Quizzing Candidates and Sharing the Responses is helpful to friends and neighbors BEFORE VOTING!

Earlier today AxXiom posted a piece with questions for finding out if your candidate for county sheriff more closely resembled a federal puppet or a guardian of liberty.  Here is another questionnaire version.

I want to encourage everyone to find out BEFORE YOU VOTE and share the information with a few friends and family and neighbors.

Axiom's questions are essay format and really stimulate thought and discussion.  If you think something in a multiple choice format might be easier to work with - here is another sample for you to try out (feel free to adapt it and make it work for you):

Quizzing Candidates Sharing the Responses [. . . ]Before Voting

Some great additions-Thanks!

The prison work program is an important issue. I also like the effort to pin them down on the seizing of assets and their attitudes about civil disobedience (church example) although I, personally, would not provide that degree of detail in this context and I’ll tell you why.

The reason I tend to shy away from providing that much specific detail when framing questions because it gives them too much to go on and may appear to reveal more about my mind than theirs. Framing questions in as neutral a fashion as possible has a purpose. This is one of those cases where the adage to “Hold your cards close to your vest” comes to mind. By keeping our opinions out of the picture as much as possible at these initial encounters will make it much more difficult for the candidates to blow smoke. I want them to be on their own on these questions and see them sink or swim based on their own merit. I don't want them to think they have me pegged by the content of my questions. My goal is to reveal their mind-they will have to have a warrant to get into my head. 

I just wanted to give my take on it and I also want to be really clear that I respect that our goals and circumstances vary and I entirely trust everyone's ability to shape the questionnaire in a manner most effective for their specific purposes.

I would like to incorporate some of this content into my draft and post the results. It would be great to see lots of people working off of this providing us all with a veritable menu of questions to use. Ala Cart or the whole caboose-I love options! Thanks to everone that is working on this! AxXiom

AxXiom - wise counsel indeed!

Please refine away and keep sharing with us all so we can come up with some questions that role off our tongues in public forums and town hall meetings as well as printed questionnaires.
